All the photographs of the "Verona Renova" project are taken from the book of the same name.
The book Verona Renova tells the story of a unique photographic project for the city of Verona; it was created in April 2020, when most people were forced to stay at home for safety reasons.
In that particular moment, I decided to take the opportunity to photograph the city in a new guise, never seen before, poignant but beautiful at the same time. I observed Verona as something new, Re nova precisely, in the Latin anagram of Verona that I chose as the title for my book. A city without the human element, a city made only of architecture.
Time seemed to have stopped and the silence was deafening. And this silence is the common thread of all my shots.
In a period that has marked the history and personal lives of all of us, I had the privilege of observing and photographing a Verona that very few have seen in this dimension: pure, simple, silent. From this dramatic moment its beauty has re-emerged, often hidden by the noise and frenzy of our existences; as if the city had reclaimed its space.
